A Garden of Conscientious Intervention

Columbus, Ohio

concrete, soil
2018

The project takes place on Waterman Farm, an experimental farm operated by The Ohio State University. The installation consists of ten concrete columns at 6” x 6” x 90”. For ten weeks, one column was cast and left to cure onsite, letting the site-specific temperature, humidity, and precipitation manipulate the surface texture and composition. The concrete columns speak back to temporal site phenomena. These ten columns were then studied in extreme detail, cataloging all of the surface changes and ground disturbance that occurred. The work explores how the concrete can record/narrate site ephemera and how my site intervention.
