Ficus lyrate, rearranged
Ficus lyrata (fiddle-leaf fig)

The Ficus lyrata (fiddle-leaf fig) used in this piece was once a healthy, adored houseplant. An unsuitable environment quickly led to this plant’s demise. This work abstracts the original structure of the plant by rearranging its extremities. The roots and branches were pruned and threaded through drilled holes in the main stem. The work is a taxidermic celebration of the plant’s fruitful life but speculates on traditional plant structures and proportions.
